Ishkur’s Guide To Electronic Music is a cult classic website that catalogs dance music’s many different subgenres.
It’s been a long time in the making, but the new version of Ishkur’s Guide To Electronic Music is finally here. Originally created in 1999, the cult-classic website is like a genealogy of electronic music over the course of the past 80 years. It includes descriptions and audio clips from over 100 different subgenres that include well-known styles like techno as well as lesser-known niches like “Twinkle Prog”.
The new version, which was originally slated for release in 2017, overhauls the original’s charming Web 1.0 design in favor of something slightly more modern. The genres also now run all the way up to 2019, with entries for experimental techno as well as braindance.
Take a look at the updated guide here.
