Beatport’s second installment of “Off The Record” invites you to delve into the extraordinary world of international globe trotters HE.SHE.THEY, a transformative force in equality, diversity and inclusion in dance music and beyond. This Beatport documentary series, filmed from January to March 2023, chronicles the remarkable five year journey of HE.SHE.THEY, highlighting its impact on promoting diversity in music and inclusivity in electronic music.
They’ve been to 50+ cities around the world, bring diversity and inclusion, and amazing parties from Mumbai to LA, Glastonbury to Ibiza. Artists who have played for them range from Honey Djion, Faithless and Maya Jane Coles to Peaches, Ellen Allien and Sara Landry and so many in between. As well as fashion brand and a record label with releases from Catz ‘N Dogz to Cakes Da Killa, and remixes from LSDXOXO, Eris Drew and Vitalic.
“Off The Record” follows industry pioneers Sophia Kearney and Steven Braines, who have been instrumental in fostering an inclusive dance culture and advancing equality, diversity and inclusion in music. Their efforts have not only shaped the HE.SHE.THEY movement but also spotlighted the significance of electronic artists from underrepresented groups in the broader music industry inclusivity dialogue.
This documentary is a vivid portrayal of the vibrant electronic music scene, showcasing how HE.SHE.THEY has become a beacon for gender diversity and LGBTQIA+ inclusion in music and a platform for progressive electronic music.
