The inaugural fest featured performances by FISHER, Kaskade, SOFI TUKKER, Chris Lake and more.
As cloudy skies hovered over the usually sunny city of San Diego, not even the threat of rain could dampen the spirits of revelers eager to ring in the new year.
All across downtown, partygoers could be seen gallivanting as they closed out 2022. However, out of the many celebrations scattered across the SoCal metropolis, only one had an elite lineup of techno and house music artists: Proper NYE.
Produced by FNGRS CRSSD, the inaugural two-day celebration took over Petco Park, the stadium of MLB's San Diego Padres, which has become a second home to the thriving event promoter. What's normally a haven for baseball fans transformed into a three-staged music festival, welcoming thousands of electronic dance music aficionados.
Situated in an obscure corner of the ballpark was the Terrace. This house music hideaway offered a more secluded setting with unobstructed views of the city's famed Coronado Bridge. Weiss, Wyatt Marshall, Westend, Maxinne and Hannah Wants all showcased their talents on this stage, among others.

The Park could be found right outside of the stadium, in an area known as Gallagher Square. Offering a lush, grassy hillside, the park offered an eclectic roster of DJs who performed throughout the weekend, including Mark Knight, Will Clarke, Loco Dice and Hot Since 82.
Other highlights from Gallagher Square include a techno throwdown by Eli Brown, the darker sounds of Oliver Heldens' HI-LO alias, a tech-trance set by Kevin De Vries and the only back-to-back of the weekend from Anabel Englund and Mary Droppinz.
Lauded as a creative breakthrough for Cudi, the album features production from Skrillex and Steve Aoki, among others.
Once again, Damian Lazarus' beloved destination festival won the hearts of Tulum’s electronic music community.
The heartfelt yet ethereal sound the song embodies fits effortlessly within Zeds Dead and Jauz's discographies.

However, there was one stage in particular that dominated over the course of the weekender, the Field. As its name implies, the Field was situated in the outfield of Petco Park, providing guests access to both the grasslands and the surrounding seating.
The stage itself boasted multi-paneled LED screens with stunning visuals, state-of-the-art lighting, lasers and pyrotechnics. Sohmi, Cristoph, Mau P, Wade, Dombresky, Nora En Pure and Tinlicker all performed here.

Other notable performances include a rain-enhanced progressive retreat by Lane 8, a hybrid live set courtesy of SOFI TUKKER, a high-energy house set from John Summit (pre-airplane fiasco) and a signature "Redux" set by Kaskade.
Overall, the team behind FNGRS CRSSD managed to elevate the New Year's experience by offering a stellar selection of tastemakers in a near-idyllic setting. Each of the three stages offered unique vantage points while taking full advantage of the stadium's infrastructure.
Although inclement weather persisted throughout the weekend, it proved to be a non-issue as thousands of ravers embraced the rain and danced their way into 2023.
