The Lower East Side has a new 3,000-square foot nightclub fitted with a VOID soundsystem imported from the UK
There’s a new nightclub in Manhattan aimed at “house and electronic” music fans.
Virgo, located at 324 Grand Street on the Lower East Side, is a 3,000-square foot venue run by the Full:Life Hospitality Group, which also runs Creatures Of All Kinds and Bohemia. The club officially opened this past weekend on 18th November, according to Thrillist, but has been quietly hosting events throughout September and October. The Resident Advisor venue listing notes the capacity as 350 people.
Virgo is fitted with a VOID soundsystem imported from the UK. “We invested heavily into our sound and lighting equipment because we know how important they are to the house and electronic scene specifically,” co-founder Duncan Abdelnour said.
In addition to the main dance floor and bar areas, there’s a separate “Boiler Room” at the back of the venue with its own soundsystem and shag carpeting.
This Friday’s party is hosted by Firungi & Friends with DJs Swami Sound, Dwells and more. Past events have featured Natasha Diggs, Midnight Taxi, Bakke and Nii Tei.
Virgo is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 9 PM to 2 AM.
Recently, Brooklyn venue Bossa Nova Civic Club reopened after nine months of inaction as a result of a fire.
