Over the past year, as pandemic restrictions lifted, clubs and festivals reopened for business, and the top producers and best DJs of the world gratefully returned to the stage.
The pandemic is still complicating live shows in 2022, but electronic music artists have continued to put out big tunes and get their tracks on dancefloors wherever they can.
Here are six artists rising through the electronic dance scene in 2022, putting out all different types of electronic music, from experimental mixtapes to classic jungle beats. These up and coming DJs and producers are sure to have a big year.
This year London DJ and producer Parris will keep building on the hype from the release of debut album Soaked In Indigo Moonlight. The LP, featuring rapid beats broken up with creative use of space and unexpected ambient and pop moments, confirmed Parris as one to watch.
India Jordan effortlessly makes fast-paced, dancefloor-packing mixes that pulse with joy. Following a triumphant residency on BBC Radio 1 in 2021, and with a US tour booked in, their star will keep rising throughout 2022.
Latvian-born producer Himera’s extraordinary experimental electronic music has half an eye on hyperpop. Forever inventing, the young producer could go in any direction in 2022.
Nia Archives makes beats on her laptop that zip from jungle to woozy DnB to snatches of jazz influences. She starts the year nominated for an NME Award for Best Producer – watch how the rest of 2022 unfolds.
Dutch DJs, radio hosts, and producers Joginda Macnack and Mike Richards have been releasing 90s rave-influenced tracks together since 2019. As Black Cadmium, their mixes give acid techno an upbeat, positive spin, inspired by Black electronic music history.
LA producer HoneyLuv started out playing college basketball and, after an excursion with the US Navy, ended up becoming a professional DJ. She pumps out house and techno or drops into hip-hop, afrobeat and R&B, with impeccable crowd intuition.
