Heading straight from his adopted home of Berlin, Italy’s Gabber Eleganza rolls into the Lab LDN this week with a multi-genre rave showcase. The producer and DJ – real name Alberto Guerrini – started his Gabber Eleganza project over a decade ago as a digital archive made up of art, fashion, music and snippets of footage from post-gabber and rave culture, snowballing into the expansive club project that now sees the producer make regular appearances on stage. From Berlin’s HÖR to live shows at London’s Oval Space, Gabber Eleganza is taking the world by storm with a project embracing the aesthetic of the hardcore continuum.
Eleganza’s project also bridges the gap between ‘90s hardcore and gabber culture through installations, printed publications, and his Hakke Show live performances where the DJ plays through a range of old skool rave genres alongside a group of gabber dancers on stage. His high-energy style has even led Eleganza onto curating his own label, Never Sleep, championing up-and-coming artists under the slogan: ‘Hardcore will never die, but you will’.
