Organisers said money raised will “go to support our friends who are currently defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces”
Dnipro festival, Construction, has released a new compilation of Ukrainian electronic music. Listen below.
Released on 26th December, ‘Construction vol.2’ spans 12 tracks by Ukrainian producers including iiteration, Subforms, Maryana Klochko and more. ‘Construction Vol. 2’ arrives seven years after the first volume of the compilation, which itself came a year after the first-ever Construction festival in Ukraine’s fourth-largest city, Dnipro, in 2014. All money from sales of the compilation will, in Construction’s words, support “our friends who are currently defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces.” It’s available to buy for a minimum of €5 here.
In a statement on Bandcamp, Construction added: “On 2022, the Construction festival was supposed to happen for the eighth time. However, like many others, these plans were destroyed by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Though it’s currently impossible to hold a proper festival in Dnipro, we are still gathering together on a new album.”
“It will feature the works of Ukrainian sound artists who have already performed at the Construction festival or whom we planned to invite this year,” they continued. “All tracks were created after February 24, 2022, and have their own story, which we will tell separately.”
The release comes a week after Ukrainian producer and live performer Poly Chain released a new collection in aid of Ukraine’s efforts to ward off Russia’s invasion of the country.
