To celebrate Mixmag’s 30th birthday, we’re uploading some of our most legendary cover CDs. Chosen by our staff, these are the mixes that rocked the office stereo and sent some of the biggest names in the game on their way to stardom. Next up, Deadmau5

Let’s be honest, if you’re reading this, you know who Deadmau5 is. Mixmag fans will have watched the rise and rise of the Canadian artist over the years, from the tunes that really made his name some six years ago to the 2012 LP ‘Album Title Goes Here’, which cemented him as an EDM titan and something of a household name.

In all that time there’s been a well-publicised relationship with and engagement to Kat Von D, various Twitter beefs and celebrity disses, some huge tracks, a back-to-back set with Richie Hawtin, an exhilarating live show and the development of an oft-outspoken, frequently anarchic personality. But before all that, in February 2008, was Deadmau5’s Mixmag cover CD.

We thought we’d re-up this one to celebrate our 30th as it’s a rare chance to hear Deadmau5 in the mix and may even school a few of the haters that he’s picked up along the way. It features Pryda, Tsuba, Joris Voorn and a fair few of Deadmau5’s own tracks, such as ‘Complications’ and ‘Arguru’, as well as the aforementioned Mau5 bangers. This mix was delivered shortly after he scored 10 Beatport number ones in a year and really is a document of an artist at their peak.
