Nick Monaco is the youngest member of Crew Love, the squad of artists brought together by contemporary house music veterans Soul Clap and Wolf & Lamb.
Made up of DJs, producers and musicians from both East and West coasts of the US, Crew Love is a family unit tied by a keen sense of fun, a strong party spirit and, most importantly, a wonderfully wide-ranging record collection. No Regular Play, Pillow Talk, Tanner Ross, Navid izadi and more count among their number but right now the focus is on Monaco, who has just released a new album titled ‘Mating Call’.
It’s the result of a fruitful relationship with the Crew Love camp, namely Soul Clap, who released Monaco’s breakout track ‘Set The Table’ via their own record label. Since then they’ve guided him toward becoming a fully-fledged artist, putting out a mini-album and a handful of 12″s along the way.
‘Mating Call’ reflects Monaco’s personality perfectly, it’s a fun record, with some tongue-in-cheek moments but is highly melodic and full of soul too. Spanning 10 tracks, its a full body of work from a producer who’s taking his time to mature. His exclusive In Session mix for us is a neat snapshot into his musical mind, gently moving from low-slung house into some deep rollers, with a couple sensual surprises throughout.
